A well known text from the Gospel of Luke, which is often quoted on Christmas: "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men".
Time in which Messiah have been born on earth was very much like what we have today. On one hand there were great civilization achievements, prosperity and stability. On the other hand there was a felt dissatisfaction with everything they had. Historians of that time wrote: "Emperor gave us peace in the seas. Emperor gave us peace on earth. But Emperor didn't give us peace for our souls". And it was because he couldn't give it.
